GIDHR refutes Bahrain’s promotion of human rights in the country
A human rights institute refuted the promotion of the human rights situation by the governmental National Institution for Human Rights in Bahrain and its lies to cover up the grave violations committed by the ruling regime.
President of the National Institution for Human Rights said that Bahrain had not imprisoned anyone for their political activities, a stance refuted by the Gulf Institute for Democracy and Human Rights.
President Al-Darazi pointed out that health care is a constitutionally guaranteed right and strictly and unexceptionally implemented for all people, including inmates of reform and rehabilitation centres.
According to the Bahrain Independent Commission of Inquiry, the Institute said that the demonstrations of February 14 were mainly related to political and constitutional reform.
Bassiouni’s report added that the authorities in Bahrain arrested several political leaders of the protest movements and set up checkpoints throughout Bahrain. Those who might have participated in the demonstrations or sympathized with the demonstrators were arrested.
UN experts also considered that the arrest of Sheikh Ali Salman was based on the dissatisfaction of the Bahraini authorities with his views calling for the establishment of a democratic system and accountability of the government, that is, based on his political activity.
While Margaret Segakaya, the former Special Rapporteur on human rights defenders, considered that the trial and sentencing of Abdulhadi Al-Khawaja relate to his legitimate work in the defence and promotion of human rights in Bahrain.
As for Mina Kay, the former Special Rapporteur on freedom of assembly, he confirmed that Bahrain is using restrictions on freedom of assembly under the pretext of national security to suppress the legitimate activities of human rights defenders and activists.
The repeated calls by the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights to the authorities in Bahrain to release those detained for expressing critical or dissenting opinions confirms the presence of political detainees in the kingdom.
As for the National Human Rights Institution claims that the detainees receive the necessary health care, the testimonies of the detainees themselves prove the falsity and inaction of this institution.
International organizations have also confirmed receiving dozens of complaints regarding denial of necessary treatment in Bahraini prisons. Bahrain’s refusal to receive UN commissioners or independent human rights representatives confirms the existence of grave violations inside the cells.
Hassan Mushaima’s detention confirms the absence of health care in Bahraini prisons. Prisoners have cancer and diabetes, high blood pressure, and gout, and he does not receive appropriate medical treatment. He is denied regular medical examinations, according to Amnesty International.
Human Rights Watch annual report confirmed the death of three prisoners of conscience behind bars during the past year. Causes of death Lack of medical care caused the death of the prisoners, according to the human rights group.
