40 new Coronavirus Cases Recorded in Jaw Prison and Families Demands Action

Bahraini sources reported that dozens of political detainees have symptoms of the Coronavirus in Jaw Central Prison.

The sources stated that the symptoms of the epidemic appeared until now on about 40 detainees, amid a lack of health care, especially in Building 21, which has160 prisoners under its roof.

Mothers of political detainees in the regime’s prisons launched a humanitarian call to save their children from the danger of COVID, where it is widely spreading inside prisons.

“We are facing a serious epidemic, and it has taken many lives so far. We are not ready for heartbreak or catastrophe to occur. We are not waiting for the prison to turn into a cemetery,” said the appeal.

According to the appeal, the mothers of the political detainees appealed to the Bahraini people of all groups to “make a serious demand and move quickly to publish their case before it is too late,” according to the appeal.

Bahraini human rights defender Ibtisam Al-Saegh stressed that the time has come to release political prisoners from prisons. Al-Sayegh warned that delaying the decision to release the prisoners is a humanitarian catastrophe.

Mother of prisoner of conscience, Ahmed Fayez, who suffers from skin diseases, appeals to the concerned authorities to release the prisoners before Covid-19 eliminates them.

The mother of political prisoner Hussain Radhi, who suffers from heart disease, asked the Bahraini authorities, “How long more do you need to decide to release the detainees?”

Bahraini prisons have become a fertile environment for outbreaks of diseases and epidemics, especially when the authorities seek to hide their prisoners’ violations and their living conditions. The Bahraini authorities hold responsibility for the deteriorating situation inside the prison.

Alsayegh stressed that the prison administration should make treatment available for cases without discrimination and should also limit the spread of the virus among other prisoners.
