Human Rights Center: Bahrain is no less than Russia in its contempt for human rights

The International Center for Supporting Rights and Freedoms said that Bahrain is no less than Russia’s contempt for human rights, calling for the suspension of Manama’s membership in the United Nations Non-Governmental Organizations Committee.

This came in a statement by the Center on the occasion of the 50th session of the International Human Rights Council, which will continue until July 8.

The Center noted that on April 7, 2022, the United Nations General Assembly adopted a resolution suspending Moscow’s membership in the Human Rights Council until the end of 2023, after its unjustified aggression against Ukraine.

The Center confirmed that the Bahraini human rights view coincides with the Russian view by committing unjustified human rights violations.

It highlighted Bahrain’s perpetration of violations against human rights organizations that monitor and document violations within Bahrain or all the Gulf Cooperation Council countries, which request obtaining consultative status at the United Nations Economic and Social Council.

For this reason, the Center demanded the suspension of Bahrain’s membership in the NGO Committee in New York due to Manama’s exploitation of its membership in that committee to retaliate against the human rights organizations.

The Center confirmed that Bahrain’s practices within the NGO Committee are retaliatory practices against organizations that monitor human rights violations and amount to racism.

It stressed that the Kingdom of Bahrain’s human rights record is black, “it represents evil for human rights organizations and defenders.”

The International Center for Supporting Rights and Freedoms – a member of the International Criminal Court Coalition, confirmed that the Bahraini regime is using the position of the committee’s membership to take revenge on the Center by asking repeated and illegal questions to prevent it from obtaining advisory status.

The Center denounced “that the United Nations stand by and watch this clear play with the law, which contravenes its goals and objectives.”

It called on the international body not to remain silent about this “because it encourages the regime to move forward towards committing more and more human rights violations.”

The Human Rights Center urged the United Nations General Assembly not to stand idly by in the face of this tampering with the law and to put up for a vote a resolution suspending Bahrain’s membership in the UN Non-Governmental Organizations Committee.
